About The Chicago Autism Project
Chicago Autism Project (CAP) works to be at the forefront of developing many new and innovative programs that enrich the lives of children with autism and help them reach their highest potential. We believe in the unlimited potential for every child and family. CAP provides a unique collaboration of parents, professionals and community members who provide quality support, training, and programming that is accessible to all for children, families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. We provide:
- Community Events – Our Gather events are free for all families to attend. Events provide resources and support services for families via our specialists, support groups, parent training as well we other parent resources.
- Education for Therapist – Our students have the opportunity to experience both personal and professional enrichment. All students who participate in the Chicago Autism Project receive training to become an applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapist to help children build significant developmental skills. After working in the program, our students go on to pursue careers working with the autism population.
- Therapy for families – We work to increase access to effective autism treatments. Our goal is to help facilitate treatment by providing the necessary resources including funding, information and referrals to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and their families.
Why Choose the Chicago Autism Project?
“From my first day at the Chicago Autism Project offices, I knew the environment was unique from other practices. I never imagined that an opportunity like this existed! At the Chicago Autism Project, I have the opportunity to receive mentorship from incredibly gifted behavior analysts with years of experience in the field. Not only do I have the opportunity to observe their sessions, but also work with the team to develop my own clinical strategies. The skills I have learned will continue to serve me throughout my career as I continue working with individuals on the autism spectrum.”
A Day in the Life at the Chicago Autism Project
If you ask anyone at the clinic, there is no such thing as a typical day at the Chicago Autism Project. This is something that our students quickly learn. With a range of different therapeutic settings and diverses group of pediatric clients, every day holds the potential for new opportunities.
At the Chicago Autism Project, students gain experience in our therapeutic preschool program, clinic-based sessions, and in-home sessions. Throughout the course of the program, students will work on a team of professionals to help children meet their individual goals in key areas of development such as speech and language, social and play skills, behavior, self-care, and more. Students work with senior behavior analysts to develop effective strategies to promote these skills and gain independence in daily life.
